**When
McDonald's App Points Leave You Confused*l
So today, I went to McDonald’s, excited for a quick, refreshing stop. My go-to? A sugar-free iced coffee. But this time, I was all set to use my points on the McDonald’s app. You know, the whole "convenient" way to score a free drink without pulling out cash. I’ve done this before, so I thought I had it all figured out.
I placed my order, ready to watch the magic of technology handle everything for me. But when I got to the counter, the guy tells me, “That’ll be $3.” Wait...what?
I had just selected my drink on the app, applied my points, and scanned the code on my phone. Shouldn't that mean the iced coffee is either discounted or free? Isn’t that the whole point of earning points? I asked the guy, “Didn’t I use my points?” And he looked just as confused as I was. He repeated, “It’s $3.”
At this point, I’m stuck between just paying the $3 or trying to get someone to explain what went wrong. And you know how it is at McDonald’s—sometimes it feels like no one really knows what’s going on with the app. I ended up just paying, but I couldn’t help feeling frustrated.
Why offer an app with rewards if it’s not going to work the way it should? I love McDonald’s iced coffee, but this app thing is starting to feel like more hassle than it’s worth.
Have you had any weird experiences with the McDonald’s app? Let me know in the comments! Maybe it’s just me, or maybe we all need an easier way to enjoy those points we worked so hard to earn.
